How to get a job as a taco bell night manager?

I just applied for the night shift lead/manager position. I am 20 years old with 6 years of experience in the food/retail business. I want this job really bad I know I am more than capable of being a manager. I currently attend college and work at a grocery store as the assistant cake decorator. Due to my stepfather losing his job with GM we are really in a bind for cash and I want to help out my family. Night shift is the only shift I can work because of school. So, what should I do to make myself stand out and when should I call to check the status of my application
