How to get a clean break, if my ex is not responding to any of my solicitors

correspondence? I and my ex husband separated 3 years ago, and got divorce a year ago. I am now trying to get a clean break, my solicitor has been trying to contact my ex husband by email, by letters, but it seems he doesn't want to cooperate.
Is there any way I can get a clean break, without his "participation"?
And how important is it to get a clean break, what if I don't get one?
I moved out from UK and remarried, does this change anything?
 
Once attempts are made it is open to you to make ex-parte applications to the court. solicitors know how and when to do this but as always it costs money.
