I'm trying to find out as much information as possible before I go to college about gaining legal independence from my parents. My family is middle class, but the lower end and my sister is already in college and currently we're in debt. We've had to sell a large majority of our possessions and don't go out or buy anything anymore. However, we would still not be able to attain financial aid that we severely need. I know a lot about student work programs, but in order for me to get into one of those, I need to declare myself independent financially from my parents. I don't want to burden them with the cost of my tuition and the debt they'll b drowning in later on. I have a 4.3 GPA and do every extracurricular activity at my school basically, but if I can't get into a student work program or get a full scholarship then my family can't afford to send me to college. How would I go about legally declaring myself financially independent?
