How to force an Android to prompt for Gmail password.

My company recently switched to Enterprise Gmail. I have an HTC Magic running Android 1.5 . I have had it for about 5 months now and one thing I have noticed is that it never asked me for my password for Gmail after the first time I used it. Regardless of how often I change my Gmail password through the web client the Android Gmail app just keeps working. This presents a problem when an employee leave the organization but we want/need to keep their gmail account active for a while. Theoretically we can't keep them from accessing the corporate gmail account via their personal phone.

Any ideas?

That's odd... When I changed my password back in the 1.1. days my phone asked me for a password again as soon as I ran the GMail app. I'd be surprised if it was removed in 1.5 and added back in 1.6.

The GMail app is pretty much just a web app wrapped in Dalvik to run on Android. It seems to connect through the same ports and system that the web client (through the website) uses, which also authenticates every time it connects. So again, I'm surprised in 1.5. it doesn't ask for a password if the GMail account associated with the phone has the password changed.

Different account maybe? Perhaps the phone is still using an old session? There's an option on the GMail website to sign out all other sessions (at the bottom of the main page, after the IP address, click the Details link).
