i replaced the radiator, thermastat, water pump. i had the head redone and pressure tested, no cracks. it still overheats. the radiator was 2nd hand. but was supposed to be good. any help would be great.

Crazy question for you....Is the thermostat installed correctly? 2nd..Never buy a used radiator for any car.Next step replace the radiator cap and then have the entire system pressure tested up to correct pressure...If you are not building pressure, you will still overheat.

I have to answer your question with another question. What is causing the overheating? Is it during traffic? just normal driving? hard driving?

Under normal driving you should have plenty of air coming through the radiator to keep it cool.

In traffic, your fans should be turning on to cool the radiator.

I would check the fans to see if they are operating properly. If you have A/C, your fans should turn on automatically when the AC button is pressed.

Drain your fluid and run some radiator cleaning agent through it. Replace the fluid with 50/50 premix and install a new cap. Take it to the car wash and power wash the radiator in case it is clustered with bugs or debris that you cannot see. It could be poor airflow. Also verify what degree thermostat you are running.

First make sure you have heat in the cab when it warms up, if not then you have an air bubble in the system and that will keep your thermostat from opening up as well as getting the water to circulate properly.

With mine I drilled a 1/8th inch hole in my thermostat housing to allow air bubbles to pass thru and bleed out. such a small hole does not affect the cooling.

Other cars need this procedure too..
