How to find out the trend before my friends?(no mean answers please)?

I feel really really dumb for asking this, but it seems like all my friends know about a trend before i do. My best friend, Brittany, is always the first one starting the trend around the school. I dont know how she does it? Lets say a certain bracelet( like the Silly Bandz)is popular at some other school, well Brittany would be the first person to wear one at our school. The reason im asking is because she brags about it to me. She will just make herself sound so important because she started the trend around the school. This probably doesnt sound like a big deal, but she makes such a big deal out of it. I would just like to know how to start a trend before her.
 
Okay, I just googled "silly bandz" and that has the be one of the ugliest things to wear haha. You're friend is kind of being an ass when she brags about something as stupid as that. She didn't start the trend, she just introduced it to your school.

Anywho, to stay on top of the trends, look at European//Asian fashion magazines. You can also look up pictures of your favorite celebrity or even google "2010 summer trends". YouTube is also a great place to see the latest trends.

Honestly, don't stress about wearing the latest trends. It's a waste of money and there's really no point.
 
It sounds like she is just trying to make herself sound important. Maybe cause of some insecurity with herself or something. But trust me. Not ONE person ever starts a trend alone. That one person just takes credit for it if they're narcissistic. Keep an eye on fashion websites i guess. Or magazines. Stuff like that.
 
well, first of all you shouldnt think about getting something before them.. but yhea anyways.. i would say get something out of the ordinary.. like i try to get things that people dont have, and i do that by not buying from the new stores. i buy from the outlets, and you will be surprised how many nice shoes and clothes are there that people dont really look at because of how many new things that come out. thats what i tried out, and it works great, everyone is always asking me about my cloths and shoes and where i got them at. give it a try:)
