How to find out release dates for DVDs?

Is there any way to find out when (or if) a film will be available on DVD in the UK? Or even the US? Doing the obvious things like putting the title into Amazon doesn't help, it merely brings up other films with the same actor. If all else fails it's available in France (it's a French film) but that might not be the best solution.

So is there a database or something that lists all films and when they're going to be released? Or is it just a case of if Amazon don't list it it doesn't exist?
 
I use the hmv website and just keep checking until it comes up with a release date. I don't think there is a database but I might be wrong.
 
DVD Times lists release dates and has a search facility which presumably will show release information announced or rumoured for a particular DVD.

No idea how comprehensive it is.

Very good, also shows you collector's editions and so on for most regions.

French films you got to make sure they have English subtitles, unless you understand French. A lot of Region 2 French DVD releases don't have English subtitles on unfortunately.
