How to finalize DVD-R disk?

I recently burned a DVD onto a DVD-R disk and it will play on my crappy Toshiba DVD player, but it will not play on my very expensive Panasonic DVD player that says its compatable with DVD-R. So i went through the manual and it said i have to finalize the disk. The only burning program i have is Nero. What program do i have to download or where do i go to finalize the disk?
