How to educate the ignorant in our own shooting community?

I don't know about you folks but I'm getting pretty damned tired of seeing members of the shooting community throwing out terms like Assault Rifle, Assault Weapon and even once I saw Assault Shotgun and showing the world their ignorance. For starters we all know or should know (there is no excuse) that there is NO SUCH THING as an Assault Rifle or Shotgun. Additionally there is NO EXCUSE for for ignorantly calling an AR-15 (and clones), the Ruger Mini series and the civilian copies of the AK rifles Assault Weapons. How to we get the members of out own shooting community to break this bad Habit?
Trish, you missed the point entirely. There is a set definition of what an Assault Weapon is already, and people don't get to create their own meaning of the word. Rermember Clinton trying to redefine the meaning of "is".
Here is the ONLY correct definition of what an Assault Weapon is.

The United States Department of Defense's Defense Intelligence Agency handbook on Small Arms Identification and Operation Guide explains, "assault rifles" are "short, compact, selective-fire weapons that fire a cartridge intermediate in power between submachinegun and rifle cartridges."
