How to eat healthier after workouts?

I'm not a bad eater but I would like to eat a bit healthier. It's so hard finding fast food places or food joints that have good food to eat after workouts. It's also difficult financially (don't have enough money to spend on a $6 meal everyday, after workouts). I usually go to a local smoothie shop (known for their healthy, raw, organic ingredients + fat burner) and have that after I work out. Subway has their $5 foot long (in which I order the black forest ham) but still seems too much.

I was thinking of just going grocery shopping myself - oatmeal and omelets (morning) and for small lunch/dinner or small meals/snacks in between or post workout, I could:
- cook steamed vegetables
- teriyaki chicken? (healthy?)
- grilled chicken patties (i can cook at home)
- grilled fish patties
- wheat bread, with ham, light mayo, light honey mustard and cut them in bite size pieces for snacks
- salad w. light honey mustard sauce
- green tea + water
- wheat quesadilla wraps + grilled chicken pieces + little bit of cheese
- sushi?

what else are healthy, cheap alternatives (instead of ordering takeout)?
I think I'm going to give up burgers (for now) and it'll be what I give up for lent this year. I saw a slaughter house on "Oprah" and its a bit "too much" for me. I'm just going to stick w. chicken...

Some other easy and healthy breakfast ideas:
Greek yogurt and granola
Whole wheat piece of toast with almond butter (the fresh ground is the best stuff!)
Steel cut oats with some fresh fruit
Mix your omeletes with as many vegetables as possible - try spinach, peppers, tomato, onion
Flaxseed waffles

Other healthy food options:
Use hummus as a substitute for the fattier meats on a sandwich or swap this for the mayo - it has more taste and texture and is much healthier!
low-sodium soups
spinach salads with nuts and a light vinagrette

try to eat as many vegetables as possible - snack on carrots or frozen grapes if you are craving a little snack. They are low calorie and have nutritional value!
