How to dodge second hand smoke?

My dad always smokes in the bathroom downstairs & I'm always down there.
I don't notice the tobacco smell after a while, but its really strong when i first walk in the door.

Do you think i am breathing in second hand smoke and how can i try to avoid it?
 
The smell of cigarettes isn't harmful - it's the smoke itself. I don't think you are breathing it in - if the air is smoky then you are, but I don't think that's what you're describing. You can buy a particle mask from a hardware store for under a dollar - or tell your dad to step outside!
 
if your there while he's smoking it, your breathing in second hand smoke, but if your just smelling it after he's already smoked then your ok, it won't do anything to your lungs. but maybe you should ask your dad to smoke outside from now on if your worried about it.
