How to dispose mercury button batterries?

I have found one of my Christmas decorations have 6 mercury button batteries. I'm now concerned how to dispose them?
 
You might want to take them to your nearest Ace hardware store where they will dispose of them free of charge. They also handle Ni-cad and lithium battery disposal. Live Green!:)
