how to discharge a/c on a 98 ford escort?

having problem with my a/c not kicking in.check fuses there good only thing i can think of is that the compresssor is not good when i use to turn on the a/c you can hear it kicking in meaning that the compressor was the one making that noise.but now it doesnt.so i need to change the compressor i guess .how do i drain the a/c and with what .help if you can .any help will do.1998 ford escort lx
 
First thing put a jumper wire on the clutch, if the clutch kicks in and it turns it works. Or put a jumper wire on the pressure switch, if it clicks in, have the Freon checked. It may just be low on Freon.
