Worst feature ever. I've had my DVR for about four years, and this feature was just added during the last software update. It seems that it's set to "on" by default. Basically, if you're fast-forwarding through commercials, it'll take you back about 30 seconds when you hit the "play" button.
With TiVo, you can enter "C-E-C 5" into your remote in order to toggle overshoot correction during fast forwarding on and off. I asked Comcast if there was a similar remote code with their DVR, but they didn't have an answer for me.
Does anybody out there know of any remote codes or hacks that can make this really annoying feature go away?
