How to deactivate a Verizon Wireless prepaid phone?

I received a new T-Mobile phone for my birthday day 5 months ago, so I decided to stop re-filling my Verizon prepaid phone.Now, I want to sell my old prepaid phone,and it's STILL not deactivated! What else do I have to do for the phone to be completely deactivated so that someone else can have it activated in his/her name? Help!
 
Call Verizon's customer service. Tell them that you want to completely disconnect the service (not suspend, temporary diwsconnect, etc.) so ESN could be used with a different number.
