How to create a website application which automates the process without user...

...intervention (php, mysql)? for example when user requested any item (say song album) which is going to be released in future, after it is released the information such as in which website it is found or can be purchased should be updated to his profile , that is this application should be capable of searching other sites for updated information without the user intervention ....
so what process or concept this application belongs to ?
is it demon or triggering or any ...suggest me... :)
