How to cook with Amla fruit?

I've heard so many benefits of the fruit alma, especially medically. My mother bought some frozen from an indian shop the other day, so i tried it and it tasted absolutely horrible!!!
I still want to eat it, coz it's real good for you and all, so I want to know how you can cook it and not taste so bad

Does anyone use this fruit for other things as well?
