How to cook rice for only one person?

I'm used to cooking rice for a lot of people (Big Family, 7 siblings)

But now, I plan on dieting and cooking brown rice. Since they don't like the stuff (and not as chubby as I am), I plan on cooking for only a serving. The problem is I either get it undercooked or burned, help me out guys...
