I am not sure about lime juice, but the vinegar will preserve and pickle the fish. Salting and drying is an old fashioned way of preserving and cooking meat and fish also. For example Salami is made without using heat.

Ok. For a science project we have to find a way to cook meat (Fish) without using any kind of heat. I heard that Lime Juice and Vinegar mixtures can sterilize the meat, but I don't know if that is true.
