How to cook kidney beans?

I can NOT get it right! I soak them over night and then cook them. I generally boil and then simmer. However, by the time they're soaked the skins are already opening up so when I cook them they turn into a big bowl of mush. I've already tried 3 times, and it's fine since beans are cheap- but I want to conquer the bean!
Please help! I've already looked all over websites and Yahoo!Answers, maybe my own plea will help me...
