How to cook basic salmon?

I'm making dinner with salmon (four pieces, fillets, about 1-inch thick). The recipe says I need to put it in the broiler. I was wondering if there was another way of cooking salmon, like baking it in the oven, or on the stove in a frying pan? I don't have access to a grill or a broiler. Thanks!
