How to convert .RAR file to Windows Media or Apple Quicktime Player compatibility?

Ok, so I'm not very familiar with WinRAR files or the application.

But I have a video file which I would like to play with .RAR in Windows Media Player or Apple's Quicktime Player any suggestions how please.

I also tried installing the WinRAR application but I don't understand how it works.

Any contributions or answers I would be grateful.
