I'm buying a home theater system as a gift for a family member. I can get a really good deal on a Panasonic SCBTT268 system but i'm not sure how to run the tv's audio through the surround sound. The tv is a few year old Sony DLP 1080p. He has dish network with the hd receiver, but the home theater system doesn't have hdmi inputs (I don't think). A later model of the system does have inputs but it is much more expensive.

I see that the system has the nice ARC (Audio Return Channel) feature, but i'm almost positive this tv that was bought in 2007 doesn't have it. I believe its a feature released with hdmi 1.4 which was 2009.
If anyone has an idea of how to get all sound from the tv to play through the surround system, I love to figure it out.
