How to connect a Dual XDVD 8183 to my existing car wires?

I purchased the wiring harness for my car.. lined up the wires with the harness for the radio and twisted them just to see if everything works, plugged in the harness to the factory harness and turned the car on and the radio doesn't come one. If anyone half step by step instructions, pictures or video... please help me!
I have a 1996 chevy lumina.
The stereo unit harness has the same color as the wiring harness for the car. Gay, Gray/Black, Red, White, White/Black, Black, Purple, Purple/Black, Green, Green/Black, Blue, the Yellow wire with a fuse box on it.
 
what kind of car it is will help with the wiring diagram. and list the color of wires on the stereo unit, and post it.
