How to change from manual to autofocus on a Panasonic G2?

I have a panasonic lumix g2 and i want to know how to change the settings from manual or autofocus! basically when i record a video i want the camera to automatically focus on an object if i held it up close to the camera but when i do it at the moment it stays blurred.

i know that touching the object on the screen will focus it but i want to camera to do that itself so i'm guessing that would be changing to settings to autofocus which i can't do!
