i've had fish before, but when i was young
i just got my fishy today and have a few questions
first off, it's in a bowl that probly has a 10cm diameter and 9-10cm height. is this okay? because i don't want to change it unless need be.
2nd to what extent should it get light. in my room with the window open during the day, its not getting direct sunlight, and the area it's in is a bit dim. is this okay? also underneath the shelf its on is my bedside table with a lamp thats lampshade is open on the top. is this lamp okay to be on underneath my fish when i'm reading or something??

sorry, its alot, but
thanks :)
lol alsoo how many pellets how many times a day/week to feed it.

ex. 2-3 pellets once a day 3 days a week.
or twice a day... or... ?

Betta fish are easy to care for. It's fun as well!

1. Betta fish don't need much of a light.(never ever put any kind of fish in direct sunlight they may get blind)

2. Betta fish need at least a 2.5 gallon tank (the tank you have now might be a little to small)

3.Change the tank at least ounce every 2-3 weeks (I change mine almost every week)

4.Feed you betta at least 2-4 times about 2-4 pellets each time a day.

5. If you have plants in the tank it will give the betta a secure feeling.

6.Putting it under your lamp is perfectly fine! (I've done it before)

7.When your changing the tank make sure you change it in warm water. Not to cold or too warm.

8. Make sure you give it lots of love!=)

Hope this helped a bit

My beta never had direct sunlight (although it had a light that I could turn off and on in the aquarium). Betas are not the type of fish to take up lots of space. What you have sounds perfect. The lamp should be fine as long as it is not touching the bowl and if it is do no leave it on for long periods of time because it could heat the water up to an unsafe level. Do not change the water unless it is growing stuff and when you do change it, keep some of the old water to mix with it so some of the bacteria that the fish is used to is still there or you could shock its system. Also, do not overfeed I only fed mine every few days and he lived for around 2 years.

Good luck!

cm? wow that must be tiny if its in cm, and i am guessing u ment inches. so we will pretend u said inches. a bowl to me is fine for a betta, bettas in the wiled have been living in dirty small puddels. and a bowl with 2 water changes a week are much better and cleaner for them. its ok if he is not getting a lot of light, he needs some but not to much. the lamp light as long as it does not warm the water up like crazy its fine, feed him pellets, and once or twice a week freeze dried blood worms at wlamart to get. these give the fish energy, to make them feel good..
