How to cap data usage on iphone 4 with telus?

When the iphone 4 comes out, and I buy it with the 500mb data plan, is there a way to regulate how much data I use? Since the iphone only uses 3g for calls, texts AND data, is there no way to make sure your iphone is using up too much 3g data? I do have wifi available at homee, sooo.
 
Apparently, Telus will text you about your usage (its an option i think). You can also look in your settings under usage about how much you've used. When a month has passed (or whenever your data cap is renewed, idk when im not on telus.) just reset the stats on there.
 
Yes there is! :) Call 611, & go through the process & there SHOULD be an option to check internet usage, or to talk to a customer service specialist & they can look up account information & inform you! & just a suggestion, the 2gb plan is what i currently have, its only 25 extra a month! you might wanna consider that, it has alot of data usage, so you dont have to be stressed about if your going over your internet plan! :) hope i helped.
