Down payment all depends on what your credit history looks like and where you buy from. If you are buying any car with financing I would get a warranty for the term of the loan that way you wont get stuck paying on a car that you cannot afford to fix, happened to me the one time i did not buy a Ford. If you are buying from a dealer, the Federal Government requires them to allow you to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic on or off the dealership premises. Depending on your cash circumstances, might be worth spending the $50-100 to get it checked out. Ask around to some people who have bought cars recently and decide where to buy from through them. Sadly because cars are so complex, they are misunderstood by a lot of people and there are still a lot of shady dealers out there. If you live in Upper Michigan I can help you, I am not a dealer but a simpleton who repairs cars in my garage with no help other than a Haynes Manual and some hand tools, some of which I should have bought the lifetime warranty tool.
