how to block these annoying flash ads?

pop up blocker doesn't do anything to stop them. These ads are typically videos that start on their own when you visit a site or they keep sliding right and left of the screen with a flashy image of a product. They block the view of the site and are very frustrating. How to block them? To get rid of it, you must click on it once and it takes you to their website and then you click "return to original website".

They are trying to shove ads down our throats.

However, they will generally have a VERY, VERY small 'close this box' button on the pop-up.

Yes, these are annoying, but it's the website your browsing's choice to put them up. If it is really annoying you, try contacting the webmaster of the site and writing a complaint.
