How to: BlackBerry to Cricket 8830 or any other BB

Hey fellas I am a noob, but pretty keen. I don't ask dumb questions, if I can avoid it, so show me some mercy!!
That being said, I was working on a BB7130e last night, and the phone was blinking on and off in Desktop Manager, and would not connect for longer than 3 seconds, then off, then repeat. I finally came to the conclusion that it has to be the USB cable. Has anyone seen this? Is there any way to manually flash this phone over? Thanks for all your help. You guys rock!
 
I did try different USB ports, and same result. I haven't tried another cable yet, but I will work on that later. I am thinking that has to be the issue.
 
What PST are you guys using instead of QPST. I am having a bit of trouble and I am completely new to this. Most google searches come up with old links tht don't work anymore.

More info would help. Not sure how to access all these thins without a program. Can you PM directions. Sorry for all the noobish questions.

stop asking for a hand out and read what is in front of you!!!
 
Ok I have a Verizon 8830 and am using the newest version of BB Desktop Manager 4.7. Of course my connection to the blackberry from the BB DM works fine but no matter what I do I cannot get the QXDM 2.08.05 to connect to the blackberry. My RIM virtual serial ports are on Com2 and Com9 and I have tried every port listed in QXDM and still no connection. Anyone know what I am doing wrong.
 
quick thing i have noticed on the blackberries, we here at our shops use cdma workshop to find and change the prl and scp of these phones, i like the new version cause itll actually tell me what address the spc is located at, if you guys are still having problems, pm me, i have some refined memory addresses that we are still putting together, so far though, i have almost flawless 7130,8703e, and pearls and curves. but we have setup the presets in cdma workshop, i can pull spcs normally within about 20 seconds.
