How to become a wedding planner and how to open my own business?

So I'm staring college in january for hospitality/business management for wedding/party/event planning. What should I take? And what do i do? I'm in the process of putting together a portfolio of the parties and events ive put together over the years. but i need to know EXACTLY what i can start doing now.
Please help!
