how to become a forensic scientist and what is the salary?

im 14 and i am starting to look into what i wanna do when i am older. i really like biology and chemistry and wanna work in law enforcment. i have had ideas of becoming a detective first then switching over to forensics because i heard that it is competitive and i thought maybe if i were a detective i might have a better chance. Any way can someone tell me what i need to do to become a forensic scientist? thank you whoever answers
