How to be recognized as a horse groom?

My friend and I want to become grooms, but one problem, we are 13 and 14. I know kids can be grooms at that age and we have big dreams. We where at the Grand Prix at Del Mar (3-2-09) and we where by the warm-up arena. We where about to ask one rider if they needed a groom or knows anyone who does but we chickened-out.

I want to know how to become a groom and how you can get people to take us seriously if we approach them.

I've been riding for 8 years and my friend, for 3. We know how to take care of horses and how to do everything.
 
Disguise yourself as a horse and get your friend to groom you in the presence of a professional rider. Pretend to really enjoy it and say something along the lines of, "Oh I'm so much faster now that I'm so well groomed."
