How to avoid traffic from newport news, va to Arlington, Va (basically D.C.)?

i attend school near D.C. and every time i drive up there, there;s traffic! (with no accidents). It's suppose to take me at least 2 hours and 30 minutes to get there. I left 9 am one time and didn't reach my school till 1:30! and im going to start driving from there to richmond almost 3 days a week now. so im just trying to see whats a better route then the normal 64// 95 thing
 
You need to get one of those GPS Navigation systems which will route you around the traffic. You need to experiment with it and thoroughly read the owners manual of which in order to make full advantage of said unit.
