Setting your levels is personal preference. Usually you set the low end so that at 3/4 volume there is no distortion. Treble settings depend on how high you like them, but once again at 3/4 volume you should have your highs set that they're clear and crisp. Your head unit's (radio) power output and distortion rate is a key factor. If after setting your levels your still not satisfied, you may need a small (reputable) amplifier. This will greatly improve your sound and can be achieved at low cost.
