How to add vlc icon to media files while using portable vlc player?

I am using windows xp sp3,Recently I downloaded portable vlc media player 1.0.1,but I could not assign the vlc icon to media files (they are still showing windows media player icons) eventhough I already assign those files to open with portable vlc player.
Friends I already know full version will do but I want to use portable version only foxitreader portable version is assigning its icon while open the program first time itself.
 
perhaps because it is the portable version of it, try doing the full version and then right clicking your media file and then choose default program to open file with.
 
You cannot assign portable vlc to a file. Since the programming of VLC portable makes it impossible to assign files.

Just get the full version. Stop being stubborn.
 
reinstall the free version from google when you run the setup all the media files will turn into vlc media
