How the hell can I stop thinking about future happenings?

I mean, I have to attend certain events next next week and the next few months that I don't feel like going or participating just yet (it's not like I'm the one who made the decision). So when these things come to my mind I feel like giving a big sigh and then the thought of it circulates in my mind for hours probably, so it gets my mood down and I feel sluggish and pouty (until I eventually forget about it). And then I also don't feel like talking, I get irritated sometimes, etc.
I know what some would say and I tell you, it is impossible for you to do ''something'' every minute of the day. There are times when you need to relax (or even forced to do nothing, like when you're waiting), and that's when these thoughts come by.
