How tall is garden corn suppose to grow, when do you harvest it?

I started my first garden this year and I am not sure on how or when to harvest the corn.

About 5.5' harvest when the silk on the ears turn brown

This depends on the type of corn, how much water it gets and the soil.Sweet corn can get as high as 8'. Just watch the ears and pick before the silk gets to dark, usually when it starts to turn a little brown pick it. You will know after you pick your first ears and eat them if you picked to soon or to late. You just have to try them. Good luck!
