justify opposing action to prevent it? Anyone who's looked at the global warming section of Yahoo Answers has seen the various theories about how the world isn't warming/it's warming but not caused by man/it's all a big conspiracy. So my question is not about this.
Rather is this an invitation to look at it from a different viewpoint. Instead of thinking about whether you believe it or not, think about how likely you think it is, and be honest. Even if the snow where you live is making you doubt it. Even if you don't trust Al Gore or the IPCC, or president Obama, or you've read some convincing articles by people who say it's all BS, is it just possible that you could be mistaken?
The stakes are amazingly high here, and in the worse case scenario failing to take action could mean consequences so dire that we can scarcely begin to imagine them.
So I ask you, how likely do you think it is that it's real and as bad as we've been hearing? And how unlikely should you believe that it is to justify opposing action to prevent it? Or for that matter, going on this forum and trying to convince others to disbelieve it?
For myself, the fair amount of research I have done tells me that there's a 95% chance it's very real. I also believe that, given the stakes, to justify opposing action to prevent it, or trying to convince other's it's not real, one should be at least 97% sure that it's not real!
