How strong are ceramics?Are they strong enough to make a firearm receiver from?

I am thinking of a special application whereby a firearm could be operated electrically with a receiver that wouldn't conduct electricity but I am not coming up with much info.Ginsu knives are made of ceramics.How about a gun frame.Any ideas?
