A fertilized egg takes about a week to implant itself to the uterine lining in the uterus. After it implants, it start producing the hormone hCG, which is what makes the pregnancy test positive. If you test too early (before the egg implants), chances are you'll get a negative test even if per chance you may be pregnant. Also, if you take a test on the day that the egg implants, you may still get a negative test, or have a very weak positive. So - the best thing to do is wait until your next missed period because by then, if should have been at least 2 weeks since the conception.

Ok I have read that usually u wont get a positive home pregnancy test until about 7-14days after implantation bleeding but my period is due Friday.. I start having this very very light brown spotting not even enough to be on a pad jus when I wipe..it started Monday night early Tuesday morning..I thought maybe my period was coming but it haven't n my cycle has never done this before...but I also thought maybe it was from sex on Monday night but that's usually pink..n never continues..so I took a test..the line was so light I didn't even know if it was there are not my fiance says he saw the line too..but i'm thinking it's probably jus wishful thinking..should I jus wait n test again Friday morning?

It just depends, every womans body is different. With my first child it took five months.... no kidding, with my second 8 weeks, I even went to the dr. they did a pt it came back neg. and did an internal exam, and still said I wasn't when in fact I was. And with my last I was about 5 weeks.

Ooh, I bet you're pregnant. Even if the line is very very faint, if it is there, that means that you are pregnant. Did you wait a few minutes after you took the test? I didn't, and I was like, "Whew, I'm not pregnant!" (because our son was only 7 months at the time) and my husband, who - like the good man he is - was reading the box and said, "Wait, this says you have to wait 2 minutes to see the results." I pulled the stick out of the trash, and sure enough, I was pregnant. I wish I could've seen my face. Lol.

It depends on the woman how long you have to wait. I've been able to get positive results within the few days after my period was due but I've heard that it can take much longer for some women.

And, my implantation bleeding was just like yours - a few drops like my period was about to come and then nothing. I didn't get any implantation bleeding the first pregnancy.

Good luck!
