okay... here are the facts

-about 11 days away from my normal period
-had unprotected sex 3 days ago
-doctor told me I have a yeast infection 3 days ago
-light red/pink spotting
-taking oral birthcontrol and prescribed oral meds for yeast infection

Some of the articles I have read on the web say that when an egg is implanting itself into the uterus there will be light spotting easily confused with the 1st day of a period. The egg implanting itself along with spotting occurs 3-4 days after intercourse. (which is today)

So, adding up the facts it is a definite possibility that I am pregnant. How soon may I take an at home test and expect the most accurate results. Do I have to wait till after a missed period?

clear blue digital home test is the only one that gives an accurate result BEFORE your period is due. you can test 4 days before your period is due (93.6% accuracy) and must use the first urine of the day.

from the day of your missed period you get a 99.9% accuracy with the same test so if you can hold off you are better to wait. after your missed period you dont have to use first urine of the day.

good luck.

Many tests claim that you can take them 5 days before your period is due.

I took a cheapo Dollar Store test one day before my period was due and got an immediate positive.

10 days after ovulation is the soonest I've heard of someone getting a positive. So right now you would be wasting your money taking a test. Wait at least 10 days then take one.

Good luck!

If you ask a doctor or pharmacist, they will tell you not to even bother with a pregnancy test until you have missed your period.

But there is no harm in trying it :) if you are curious, go take one! It might not be accurate but might ease your anxiety a little
