How similar to the older versions is Coral Paint Shop Pro Photo X2?

I am a BIG fan of the older JASC Paint Shop Pro. Especial versions 8 & 9. I have tried downloading the trial version of the Coral version X and X2 and they wouldn’t run, so before I purchase an 80+ dollar application, I was wondering: A) How similar to the older version in the X & X2 versions are now that Coral owns it. (Does it have all the same tools, can you draw, edit and add effects) B) Is it a good application? Does it work well? Thank you.
