How should I tell my brother in law that some of his stuff got burned at my party?

He was storing it in my garage because he's moving... I had an after bar party where people were drunk and we were burning empty cardboard boxes in the firepit... Someone grabbed a couple of his boxes thinking they were empty (i guess) and burned up his dvd player, a little footstool and some other stuff...

Just be like, "Dude. I had an awesome party the other night but your crap was in the way. Anyway, your s*** is gone."

There's no need to tell him they got burned.

Sounds like somebody took it from the garage to me....You are unsure what happend.

haha just tell him...he'll be fine...it was an accident, and in the end he will see its kind of hilarious

ALWAYS start with the truth......tell him that you are truely sorry and try to replace them things....

Honesty is the best policy :/ as cliche as it sounds. Thats only going to haunt you down the road.

By telling him you will pay him for the damages. After all, it was your drunk friends. His things were stored there under your supervision.

well it all depends on what it was. if it was nothing important, then replace it and tell him. but if it is something that was important, than you have to tell him. my method for bad news is gently but fast. go out with him on a guy thing for like drinks and tell him.
