How should I jailbreak my iPod touch?

I've been searching for a while and there are too many sites and I don't know which one to use.
Are they all the same and are the results the same? How do i benefit from jail breaking my iPod touch.
Is it easy to do so or it is hard? Please tell me alot of info about jail breaking my Ipod touch
I am sorry i forgot to write. My ipod touch is 2 nd genearation and is iOS 4.2.1
