Hi. I am a freshman in college. At my school, we are assigned advisors in our majors to help us out with our decisions over the next four years. I have only met with mine three times so far: once to meet her and discuss myself a little, once to ask about a specific major, and once to schedule my classes for next semester. She is a very nice woman, but we are not by any means close or anything.
Well, over the weekend, her son passed away. He was my age, actually. I found out through campus-wide email, and I was very upset. I'm not sure how I should approach the situation. Should I send a card and pray for her? Should I just keep my distance? When I do meet with her again, should I apologize for her loss?
