how safe are the HARLEY DAVIDSON BIKES?

I' was thinking about buying a harley davidson 883iron.
is it safe to drive bikes on the roads?
is it true that harleys' crash ratings are lower than sport bikes?
does harley d's sound has any impact over the car drivers?


please tell me anything you know about harley's,
 
They are as safe as you make them.
Obviously they have lower crash rates than sports bikes because people do crazy shit on them like wheelies and endos!
 
comes down to the person riding, think of it like this, you could be in the safest car but if you drive the hell out of it and go over 100 all the time you'll eventually roll it and total it, so just depends on the rider

about the sound pretty much the louder the safer, reason i say that is because if people in a car/truck can hear the bike before they see you then they'll know your there, if you ride some quiet bike then they won't know your around and next thing you know the car/truck is on top of you and your pinned underneath
