Im looking into buying a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee---
Anyone have any reviews?
Good or bad idea?

had one, liked it, sold it for a truck. if you get the V8 they have plenty of power and do decent on mileage. 4x4 system works well but takes some getting used to. slip to grip which means if you start slipping, you need to accelerate alittle more, then the wheels that grip will lock and it will pull you straight.

Complaints: the interior gets squeaky, especially off road.

Power window system broke on passenger door, replaced my self and found that it is a metal regulator with a plastic piece that holds the window. The plastic broke but you have to buy the whole regulator to repair the issue. Plastic piece is probably worth $10 high retail but you can't buy it.

All in all, it is good on power, good 4x4, annoyingly squeaky but a hell of a value. you can pick up a fully loaded, leather seat GC for under 8 grand! I sold mine because I needed a truck... Sold it on Craigslist in less then 4 hours....

The good: nice size. Decent pickup. Nice options.
The bad : Slightly bad gas mileage compared to other similar SUV's.

Comparison ... if size is not the big deal, check out the Liberty. if a Grand Cherokee is what you want check out your Local CaRmax and see if they have a color you like.

If you shop at a dealer ( jeep ) make sure you have the ability to research blue book and keep in mind what it is they probably paid ( trade in ) so you don't let them make a "mint" off your deal.

Make sure you make them work. don't buy the day you see the vehicle. They will call you over and over. Just focuson price and you'll be fine.
