Hi,
my question is about how horrible you have to be at PT and fitness testing to be dismissed from US army boot camp.
i recently enlisted into the army as a 35F, and will ship out to leonard wood soon. ive been pretty physically unfit all my life, so when i went to MEPS I had to do the ARMs test after my physical, and i passed that pretty easily (no breaks in the stepping, yada). Did a full shot that day, took ASVAB, passed, swore in, all that good stuff.
However, I have been doing practice fitness tests every week with the Future Soldiers program since then and I have failed miserably each time. My push ups are really ugly (I cant do them without my hands being parallel to my head), and I havent passed the sit up test or the 2 mile run once. I am going to be overseas for the rest of the summer up until I ship out, so now I have no more FSTP to help me practice.
So I was wondering how bad I would have to be to get kicked out of basic training when I go. I am pretty stressed about the situation; my entire family has moved away from America, and joining the army is the only way I can stay in the US and still provide for myself. Can anyone whos gone through or knows about bct tell me more specifics about what will be expected of me when I get there?
additional details: 21 years old, have college degree (E4)
Thank you!
