how old can you be you be to join the military? and do 2 DWI 's prevent you joining?

My husband is 35 with 2 DWI 's and he had a minor in possesion when he was younger. Last DWI was 5 years ago. He says he can't go for active duty. I have no idea. Please serious answers only
His MIP is alcohol, go figure. There are no drug charges, my husband doesn't even go there. He wanted to join when he was younger but they were more strict then.
He doesn't have any kind of felony.
